Your role – purpose & impact
 
Act as the technical expert for pre-sales solution development, leading the design and positioning of complex, commercially viable Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions (standalone or hybrid). The role bridges Sales, Engineering, and external stakeholders, ensuring optimal technical, regulatory, and commercial outcomes while shaping solution strategies, influencing customer decisions, and contributing to the company’s market positioning.
 
 
Your mission – what you can expect:
 
  • Lead the development of technically robust and commercially competitive BESS solutions in collaboration with the Sales Team, acting as subject matter expert, converting customer requirements and constraints into feasible solutions Prepare and own preliminary system designs, including equipment selection, system configuration, and integration concepts;
  • Conduct technical assessments, performance simulations, and drive techno-economic optimisation of proposed solutions, ensuring alignment with project and business objectives;
  • Act as the technical expert interface for customers during pre-sales, addressing queries and providing technical guidance;
  • Prepare and contribute to high-quality, well articulated, technical proposals, tender submissions, and scope definitions aligned with commercial objectives;
  • Identify, communicate, assess and mitigate complex technical, regulatory, and operational risks, and support mitigation strategies;
  • Ensure proposed solutions comply with relevant standards, grid requirements, and industry best practices;
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, product, and delivery teams to ensure feasibility and alignment of solutions;
  • Represent the company in technical workshops, customer engagements, and external forums where required;
 
Your profile – what you bring:
 

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, or a related field;
  • Postgraduate qualifications or certifications in energy storage systems or power systems engineering are advantageous.

 

Professional Experience:

  • 8+ years in a technical role within the renewable energy sector, preferably with experience in BESS, solar PV, or power conversion systems;
  • Proven experience in pre-sales engineering, technical sales support, or application engineering;
  • Ability to work in a project-oriented business, collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

 

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of BESS components, including batteries, power conversion systems, and SCADA systems;
  • Familiarity with grid connection processes, regulatory standards, and performance modelling;
  • Proficiency in simulation tools and software for system design and analysis;
  • Strong knowledge of NER, GPS requirements and connection processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders;
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining customer relationships;
  • Collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented;  
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities with a customer-centric approach;
  • Strong ethical awareness and commitment to safety, quality and compliance.

 

Desirable Attributes:

  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients and support project development.
