Purpose of the Position

 

The Contract Manager is responsible for the management of the contract process and risks in accordance with SMA’s legal and compliance policies, risk management processes and commercial contract compliance.  The Contract Manager is an essential and key position with high visibility within the organization and is integral member of the legal department.

 

 

Your contribution to the big picture

 

  • Serves as a single point of contact for legal, sales, finance, commercial project management, procurement, application engineering, product management, service and other project-oriented team members regarding contract management and processes
  • Manages the review, analysis and creation of contract terms and conditions and other documents related to the contract process
  • Ensures that contract requirements/obligations comply with SMA policies and processes, risk management processes and commercial contract compliance and that the overall contract workflow functions in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with SMA legal and compliance policies, risk management processes and commercial contract compliance
  • Manages the pre-contract approval process and the contract signing process
  • Assists in the identification, development and implementation of new contract templates, policies and processes
  • Provides strategic advice and brings in expertise and experience to help proactively manage risk and develop mitigation strategies and lessons learned to avoid identified project risks

 

 

Your skills are needed

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business administration
  • Current or past membership of the National Contract Manager's Association (NCMA) would be an advantage as well as at least 3 years' professional experience as a financial analyst, project controller or equivalent with a focus on conducting financial evaluations and preparing decision proposals
  • At least 10 years of professional experience with construction projects and project management as well as professional experience in contract management with complex project-related supply agreements, framework supply agreements, distributor agreements, complex multi-year service and/or operation and maintenance (O&M) agreements as well as national and international procurement agreements
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, Spanish or Portuguese
  • Willingness to travel regularly at home and abroad
  • Good technical understanding, strong problem-solving skills and strategic analysis and the ability to provide proactive and pragmatic advice and be a strategic advisor
