We are looking for an experienced Public & Government Affairs Manager EU to join our Global Public Affairs team and lead our engagement with European policymakers, regulators, industry associations, and key stakeholders.
Your Impact
As our Public & Government Affairs Manager, you will be the voice of SMA within the European policy ecosystem. Based in Brussels, you will develop and execute advocacy strategies that support business growth, market access, regulatory objectives, and innovation initiatives across Europe.
You will:
- Lead SMA's European public affairs, government relations, and policy advocacy agenda.
- Monitor and assess regulatory, legislative, political, and standards developments that impact the renewable energy sector.
- Advise senior leadership on emerging policy trends and translate complex developments into actionable business insights.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the European Commission, European Parliament, regulators, industry associations, and strategic partners.
- Represent SMA at industry forums, standards bodies, trade associations, conferences, and executive-level discussions.
- Shape policy narratives through position papers, stakeholder engagement, public speaking opportunities, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with legal, regulatory, communications, marketing, innovation, and business development teams to advance key company priorities.
- Lead coalition-building efforts and engage with external consultants and advocacy partners to maximize SMA's influence and visibility.
What You Bring
We're looking for a strategic thinker and relationship builder who combines political insight with commercial awareness.
You have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Public Affairs, Law, Public Relations, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, advocacy, regulatory affairs, or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of European policy-making processes and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience within renewable energy, solar, battery storage, grid technology, or related sectors.
- A proven track record influencing policy outcomes and building effective coalitions.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- The credibility and executive presence to engage confidently with senior policy makers, industry leaders, and corporate executives.
- Fluent English; additional language skills such as German, French, Dutch, or Spanish are advantageous.
