Join SMA Benelux bv / srl as a Field Service Engineer Large Scale Projects based in Mechelen. In this critical role within our Service functional area, you will be entrusted with the maintenance, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and utility-scale solar inverter systems across the Benelux region. Your expertise will be vital in optimizing system performance and ensuring minimal downtime, thereby supporting the sustainable energy transition initiatives of our esteemed customers.

You will collaborate closely with leading solar industry companies, employing your technical knowledge and a strong customer service focus to uphold SMA’s high standards of service and reliability. This position offers a dynamic work environment combining fieldwork with opportunities to interact meaningfully with a diverse client base and internal teams.

🔧 What You'll Do

• Commission, inspect, maintain, and repair advanced photovoltaic (PV) systems, focusing on SMA's cutting-edge inverter technology used in both string and central inverter configurations.
• Diagnose and efficiently resolve complex technical issues on-site, employing analytical troubleshooting skills to minimize system downtime and enhance energy yield.
• Provide expert support for customers by addressing service-related inquiries, delivering clear and professional communication throughout the troubleshooting and repair process.
• Manage logistics effectively, including spare parts inventory and service scheduling, ensuring timely maintenance and repair interventions.
• Document all service activities, observations, and technical findings accurately and comprehensively in SAP CRM, supporting transparency and operational efficiency.
• Adhere rigorously to health, safety, and quality standards at all times, fostering a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Travel extensively throughout the Benelux region to perform site visits and support the commissioning and maintenance of renewable energy installations, demonstrating flexibility and commitment.
• Occasionally support international projects, applying your skills on a broader scale and contributing to SMA’s global operational excellence.

✅ What We're Looking For

Technical Profile

• Minimum A2/MBO degree in Electro-Mechanics or a related technical discipline, demonstrating solid foundational knowledge.
• At least 3 years of proven experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of electrical systems and power electronics, with a focus on high-voltage environments.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage systems, measurement equipment, and strict compliance with safety regulations to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Knowledge of IP networking technologies to support communication interfaces within inverter systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and SAP software for documentation and operational tasks.

Work Authorization Requirements

• Candidates must hold valid authorization to work in the Netherlands without requiring employer sponsorship.
• Only candidates residing within the Netherlands will be considered.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Outstanding communication skills, comfortable engaging directly with customers to provide clear, respectful, and effective support.
• Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks independently and coordinating with colleagues within a team environment.
• A positive mindset coupled with a good sense of humor that contributes to a collaborative and inclusive work atmosphere.
• Fluency in both Dutch and English is essential; proficiency in French is considered an advantage.
• Valid Category B driving license is required to facilitate travel across the region.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel regularly, including occasional international assignments.
