Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Grid Modelling Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Grid Modelling Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical grids, with a focus on grid integration and the incorporation of solar PV systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python programming, grid modelling software, and a deep understanding of renewable energy systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Grid Modelling and Simulation:
• Develop and implement advanced grid models using industry-standard software such as PSS/E, PSCAD and Digsilent.
• Conduct dynamic simulations to analyze the behavior of the electrical grid under various conditions, including the integration of solar PV systems.
2. Renewable Energy Integration:
• Work on the integration of solar PV projects into existing electrical grids.
• Evaluate the impact of renewable energy sources on grid stability and propose solutions to address potential challenges.
3. Python Programming:
• Utilize Python programming skills to automate grid modelling tasks, analyze simulation results, and develop customized tools for efficient workflow.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, renewable energy experts, and project managers.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
5. Research and Development:
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to grid modelling and renewable energy integration.
• Contribute to research and development activities to enhance grid modelling methodologies.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in grid modelling and simulation, with expertise in PSS/E , PSCAD and any other relevant simulation softwares.
• Strong programming skills in Python for automation and analysis.
• Understanding of solar PV systems and their integration into electrical grids.
• Familiarity with power system analysis, stability studies, and grid optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with other grid modelling software and tools.
• Knowledge of energy storage systems and their impact on grid dynamics.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to grid integration.
• Familiar with large- or small-scale utility power system studies.
